Hotlanta, by Denene Millner and Mitzi Miller, tells the story of two sisters. They are the Duke Twins, Sydney and Lauren. They attend the most prestigous private school in Atlanta, and live in the most exlclusive neighborhood. On the outside looking in, things seems perfect. Sydney, is the overachiever, the one destined for greatness and ivy league schools, while self-centered Lauren only looks out for herself, and couldn't care less about anyone else. Their lives are blown apart when their biological father is released from prison, and threatens to challenge everything they have ever known. Lies, murder, and money. Is anything ever as it seems.
This book is a page turner. It started out as many books that could be considered the same genre(Gossip Girl, A-List, etc) did. As I read on though, I found that their lives were more complexed than they seemed. The characters are developed really well, and easy to relate to. It also gives good description, and makes it easy to visualize one of the most urban spots in the U.S. It gives just the right amount of tension, unfolding one thing as another thing is solved. My only regret is that you don't get to find out what's really going to happen by the end. You have to trust the characters, and wait for the next book.
