Hotlanta, by Denene Millner and Mitzi Miller, tells the story of two sisters. They are the Duke Twins, Sydney and Lauren. They attend the most prestigous private school in Atlanta, and live in the most exlclusive neighborhood. On the outside looking in, things seems perfect. Sydney, is the overachiever, the one destined for greatness and ivy league schools, while self-centered Lauren only looks out for herself, and couldn't care less about anyone else. Their lives are blown apart when their biological father is released from prison, and threatens to challenge everything they have ever known. Lies, murder, and money. Is anything ever as it seems.
This book is a page turner. It started out as many books that could be considered the same genre(Gossip Girl, A-List, etc) did. As I read on though, I found that their lives were more complexed than they seemed. The characters are developed really well, and easy to relate to. It also gives good description, and makes it easy to visualize one of the most urban spots in the U.S. It gives just the right amount of tension, unfolding one thing as another thing is solved. My only regret is that you don't get to find out what's really going to happen by the end. You have to trust the characters, and wait for the next book.

The Year My Sister Got Lucky

The story begins when two sisters, Katie and Michaela Wilder, are moved from fast-paced New York city to rural Fir Lake. Katie is devastated and feels like her and her sisters dreams of being prima ballerina were being shattered. While Katie pushes herself into further reclusion, Michaela shines, turning herself into a social butterfly. With every minute Katie feels herself growing further and further apart from her sister. When this new, secretive girl appears before her, she starts to question whether she ever really knew her at all. Who is this girl who parties all the time, and is suddenly not afraid to talk to boys? Katie wants to stay close to her sister, but after she finds out a shocking secret she starts to question even that.
If you are looking for something light to read this is for you. It's funny and may keep the pages turning, but unfortunately that is really all that there is to it. The big secret was plain almost from the beginning of the story, so I was a little disappointed when it finally came out. For me, the ending was anti-climatic. For those of you who have read it, what did you think? Am I right or wrong?

EM WATTS IS GONE.Emerson Watts didn't even want to go to the new SoHo Stark Megastore grand opening. How was Em to know that disaster would strike, changing her-and life as she'd known it-forever? One bizarre accident later, and Em Watts, always the tomboy, never the party princess, is no longer herself. Literally. Now getting her best friend, Christopher, to notice that she's actually a girl is the least of Em's problems. But what Em's pretty sure she'll never be able to accept might just turn out to be the one thing that's going to make her dream come true . . . .NIKKI HOWARD IS HERE TO STAY.
With all of the book releases this spring, it seems this one is getting lost in the dust. I'm not hearing too much about it. It seems interesting though. What do you think?

Hey

Hi everyone. Thanks for visiting my blog. A World of Books is a blog that focuses more on urban books. Lately, these kind of books have been hard to come by. I will admit though, they're getting more and more popular. This having been said, I won't discriminate. I'm sure there will be something here for even the most selective tastes.
Thanks!!
